About this item

  • QUALITY CONTROL APPROVED: We have increased the quality assurance and quality control. The products have been subjected to additional tests and marked with a QC sticker
  • LGA1700 COMPATIBILITY: The Liquid Freezer II 240 is compatible with Intel's new Alder Lake processors - Socket LGA1700
  • COOLER THAN OTHER AIO WATER COOLERS: The ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II has a more efficient cool plate, pump and radiator that makes a difference among other AIO water pc fan coolers
  • 15°C LOWER VOLTAGE REGULATOR TEMPERATURE: An additional 40 mm VRM fan (PWM controlled) next to pump can provide extra cooling for the base and voltage transformer
  • INTEGRATED CABLE MANAGEMENT: The PWM-cable of the fans are integrated into the sleeved tubing. Thus there is only one short cable visible from the pump to motherboard replacing the usual cable mess

Future-proof compatibility

At the end of 2022, AMD has released the AM5 socket, the successor to its popular AM4 platform. Because all mechanical dimensions remain identical, we are able to ensure the compatibility of ARCTIC coolers with AMD's new processors.

Additionally, all coolers shipped by ARCTIC are already compatible with Intel's Alder Lake and Raptor Lake LGA1700 processors.

Coolers purchased from resellers, however, may still have been shipped without the corresponding accessories. In this case, please contact our support.

Best CPU Water Cooler

The Liquid Freezer II series consistently exceeds all expectations and sets new standards in compact water cooling. As a further mark of recognition, the Liquid Freezer II series was awarded the “European Hardware Award 2022” for the best CPU water cooler.

Optimized for AMD Ryzen

AMD has been using a new multi-die layout for its high-end AM4 processors for a few generations now. In these processors, the hotspot is not centered by the IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader). To still allow for optimal heat dissipation, we have developed a special mounting kit for the Liquid Freezer II that allows the cold plate to be placed directly over the hotspot of the CPU. AMD's upcoming 7000 series AM5 processors also come with multi-die layouts and can therefore benefit from the Liquid Freezer II's unique offset mounting.

Efficient, proprietary pump

While many competitors use a generic water pump, we‘ve gone to great lengths to develop our own. The results? Quieter operation and higher efficiency. And, like the Liquid Freezer II’s fans, the water pump is PWM-controlled and adjusts its speed accordingly. This not only leads to significantly lower noise levels at low and typical loads, but also a much lower power consumption for all components of the AiO.

High quality tubing with integrated cable management

The Liquid Freezer II's fiber-reinforced 45 cm tubing allows for installation even in large cases and effectively prevents coolant evaporation, so you don't have to worry about refilling your compact water cooling system.

Plus, our sophisticated cable management hides the PWM cables of your radiator fans in the sleeving. This makes installation easy and tidy: you only have to connect one connector to the mainboard, and there are no other cables to hide.

Quiet VRM fan

Small fans have the reputation of being particularly loud and not very durable; that’s why we set out to develop a quiet, sturdy diagonal fan especially for the Liquid Freezer II. We’re 100% convinced that this 40 mm fan is just as durable as our other case fans. If the fan doesn’t live up to our claims, ARCTIC will send you a replacement (without you having to replace the entire unit).

The fan is PWM-controlled and can cool your voltage converters and the socket area almost inaudibly by up to 15 °C especially in overclocking scenarios, with insufficient VRM cooling or in cases with low airflow and thus allows continuous high load. Provided there is sufficient VRM cooling, it can be turned off at will.

Premium class radiator

Unlike most all-in-one liquid cooling manufacturers, we rely on 38mm thick radiators with a high fin density. This allows a larger amount of water to be used in the circuit and significantly increases the cooling surface area. Water has a much higher heat capacity than aluminum or copper. This leads to a slower and an up to 5 °C lower temperature increase in the time-limited turbo mode of modern CPUs.

Works with ASRock B760M Steel Legend WiFi motherboard

Works with ASRock B760M Steel Legend WiFi motherboard
I learned of all the motherboards that are apparently incompatible with the cooling block and/or mounting bracket after placing the order. I actually tried to cancel the order after it was placed because one of the boards on the incompatibility list is the ASRock B760M PG Sonic WiFi, which as far as I am aware is just a cosmetic variation of my board, the ASRock B760M Steel Legend WiFi. My order could not be cancelled because it was already shipping, so I decided to just wait and see. I received the Rev 7. 240mm cooler and it fits fine, with no interference with the VRM heatsink, M.2 heatsink, or capacitors around the socket, and no issues with mounting pressure. The photos show how close the bracket gets to the M.2 heatsink, but it doesn't make contact and the heatsink and drive can be removed without contact or other issues. The photos show the cooler mounted and the clearances around the cooler and bracket. The important part is that this cooler is definitely compatible with the B760M Steel Legend with no modification to the brackets, and may be compatible with other ASRock B760M boards. As for the performance, my i5-12600K idles at about 23-25C (basically room temp) and maxes out in the low-mid 40s in games. I swapped out the stock fans for Corsair ML120 Elite fans right off the bat and the radiator is mounted in a push exhaust config at the top of the case. My GPU temps dropped 5-10C, likely because of the room that was freed up inside the case for airflow. My previous cooler was a Thermalright Peerless Assassin, which is a great cooler that I would've been happy sticking with had this one not had such a good sale with the coupon. The mounting system is fine. It's not the best, but I've seen much worse. The pump is basically silent. Not sure about the noise level of the stock fans because I didn't use them. It is all pretty easy to install. The adhesive-backed washers that go over the holes in your motherboard are a pain to line up, but it's not complicated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warning to AM4 Users
Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2021
Let me get this out of the way first: this has been a great AIO so far. I really appreciated the pre-mounted fans and the included, but not pre-applied, thermal paste (as this let me use my own without wasting the included MX-4). Performance is measurably better than the Noctua NH-D15 it replaced, which is allowing my Ryzen 5800x to boost a bit higher. I personally enjoy the aesthetics; the silver stripes on the tube sheathing look nice without being too showy and the lack of RGB means I can avoid being blinded by my own PC.

Now for the warning: while I haven't tried to mount this on an Intel socket, mounting it on AM4 is painful. I was mounting it into an existing system, so it's possible this is easier on an external motherboard, but the problems all come down to the backplate. The backplate must be supported and held very close to the motherboard during both installation of mounting hardware and the cooler itself. Failure to do this will result in issues.

My particular issue, for example, came from having an ASUS Prime X570-Pro motherboard. For whatever reason, it appears there is less space on this board between the socket and the left side capacitors than Arctic was expecting. Watching the instructional videos and the installation guide GIFs led me to believe that the AM4 bracket on the cooler unit would comfortably mount without interference once I had the mounting hardware installed on the motherboard. However, it appeared that the left side capacitors would block installation of the cooler. The capacitors seemed to physically block the bracket from reaching the mount. In reality, this only happened because the backplate wasn't fully flush against the motherboard, so the posts weren't coming through all the way. Even with the mounting hardware installed, the mount is loose until the cooler is screwed on. Once fully installed, the top left part of the bracket sits _just barely_ above the capacitors; I haven't measured but there's probably 1mm or less space between them.

I was able to eventually find an awkward way to reach behind my tower and hold the backplate in place while thumb-tightening the cooler to the mounting hardware. This was made more challenging by the cooler not sitting still while trying to mount it--being an AIO, it's got fairly rigid sleeved tubes coming out of the unit and those like to pull on it while you're trying to use one hand to hold the plate and the other to screw it down. You'll really benefit from having someone hold the plate for you (or, you can try just taping it to the motherboard, though this didn't work well for me).

I only knocked one star off the rating because of the mounting challenges. One usually mounts a cooler only once ever few years and, while annoying, I was able to eventually do it solo. Other than installation woes, it has proven so far to be a very capable and effective CLC, and is basically silent under anything but heavy load. However, I definitely wanted to put up a warning for anyone that might be slightly less adventurous but looking to try a very well-rated water cooler. You'll definitely have to work for it, at least if you're on AM4.
